Robert – Airline Dog Carrier in Cotton

Robert is made for travel: by plane, by car, on foot through the terminal.

The body is in a dense, heavily worked cotton that holds its shape on its own, with no internal metal frame: rigid, and 1.55 kg. Through the airport Robert is carried upright, so the dog has room to sit with its head up. Under the seat it stays upright or turns on its side, depending on the space the aircraft allows. Mesh on the sides and across the top keeps air moving, above all around the dog's head.

• Upright: 44 × 24.5 × 28 cm (17.3 × 9.6 × 11 in)
• On its side: 44 × 28 × 24.5 cm (17.3 × 11 × 9.6 in)
• Weight: 1.55 kg (3.4 lb)

Before you travel

Rules for carriers in the cabin vary by airline and by aircraft, and the weight limit usually includes the dog. Compare Robert's dimensions, upright and on its side, with your airline's limits, and check your airline's current policy before booking. Measure your dog too: it should be able to stand, turn around and lie down comfortably inside. Only you can judge whether Robert is the right size for your dog.

Carrying

• Short handles, for carrying by hand
• Detachable shoulder strap, which also fastens to the back of a car seat so the carrier stays in place on the road
• Rear sleeve for the handle of a suitcase. It is cut snug on purpose, so the carrier sits firmly against the suitcase and the dog stays balanced. With some handles the fit will be close.

Inside

• Internal side strap, to clip to the dog's harness
• Light, reversible mat: bouclé on one side for winter, cotton on the other for summer. It moves with the carrier, on the base when Robert is upright and along the side when it lies under the seat.

Details

• Front pocket for travel documents and the dog's passport
• Feet on the base, so the fabric does not touch the floor
• All black

Brush the carrier clean; it is not machine washable. Only the mat goes in the washing machine.

In the car, the shoulder strap fastens to the back of the seat so the carrier stays in place. Robert is a carrier, not a crash-tested restraint.

Check the strap, handles and seams before each journey.

Do not leave the dog inside the carrier in a parked car.
